Who Can Fast?

“For most people, fasting is safe and can be beneficial. However, there are some people who should not fast without consulting a physician. Some examples of people who should not fast are: people who are too thin or emaciated; people who have experienced anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder or other behavioral or eating disorders; people who suffer weakness or anemia; people who take insulin for diabetes, or suffer from hypoglycemia or any other blood sugar problem.”

Here are some tips to a safe fasting experience:

  1. Consult with a physician beforehand if you are unsure about your ability to fast.
  2. Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water or juices before, throughout, and after your fast.
  3. Try to avoid strenuous physical activities during your fast.

There are other ways to fast asides from abstaining from food. You can give something else that you typically spend money on.
